About Raphei

Northern Region of the Tangkhul Naga country in Manipur state, India is called as Raphei. The literal meaning of the term is Surplus water. It is believed that the name was coined because of the numerous rivers and streams that originate from the region. Almost all the villages in the region inhabit very close to the river. The fields are surplusly irrigated round the year. More than 50 villages are part of the region.
